Below you will find an overview of some of our ongoing activities. We welcome you to become involved with us!
Council Business Meetings are held the first Thursday of every month at 8:00 P.M. Meetings run about one hour and are followed by fellowship in our Club Room and lounge.
Officer Meetings are held the last Thursday of every month at 8:00 P.M. in the Club Room. These meetings, which are open to all members, typically last one to two hours and consist largely of planning for upcoming events as well as discussion of any council issues that may need to be addressed.
Our council hosts many blood drives a year. Please check the calendar for an upcoming blood drive date. Save a life and donate blood. For more information contact Ron Babick at 310.532.7953.
Rancho San Antonio is one of our favorite charities, in no small part because we have been able to witness first hand the impact that this "Boys Town of the West" has had on the young men that live there. Once a year Brother John brings a few of these young men out to our Rancho Drive Kickoff Dinner. The stories these boys tell are heart wrenching. Many of them come from severely broken homes and have had history of substance abuse, trouble with the law, and/or low self esteem. Rancho gives them so much and helps them become fine young men capable of rising above their past. We are proud to support this worthy cause.
S.T.A.R. is a non-profit organization that operates two homes in Torrance, CA for people with developmental disabilities. Our fundraising drive for this cause officially kicks off each fall at the Alpine Village Oktoberfest. For many years we have raised funds for this cause through our "Tootsie Roll Drive" after each Mass at each of our parishes in late October. Check out the YouTube link below to learn more about this worthwhile cause.
Four times a year Knights and their families gather to celebrate mass together at one of the Council's four parishes (American Martyrs, Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Anthony's or St. Andrews Russian-Greek Church). Knights will often participate in the mass as lectors, gift bearers, ushers and eucharistic ministers. Usually we meet for a delicious breakfast afterwards.
Once a year members put the hustle and bustle of our busy lives aside and take advantage of our weekend spiritual retreat at Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center in Sierra Madre. Check the calendar in February/March for this year's retreat dates. For more information about this contact PGK John McCormick 310.322.3983.
We help lead off the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Hermosa Beach every year by sponsoring a float carrying St. Patrick himself! We also sponsor the St. Patrick's Day Dinner and Dance at American Martyrs Church, offering a traditional dinnner of corned beef and cabbage to over 400 guests. The night includes some of your favorite Irish songs performed by Innisfree and a dance performance by the Kelly School of Irish Dance. Check the calendar for March for the date of this year's celebration. Make your reservations early as this event usually sells out early. Contact Ron or Angelina Babick at 310.532.7953.
The purpose of this event is to raise money for our worthwhile charities while also having a good time. We play blackjack, craps, roulette and poker. The event is always loads of fun and many of our guests walk away happy due to the great prizes and silent auction items they take home.
The Knights of Columbus, Council 4567 First Annual Charity Golf Tournament was a huge success! We were indeed blessed to be able to play golf on the beautiful Los Verdes course, where the views were spectacular. The event raised over $6,000 for our various charities, a great start to what has become an annual event.
